Fairfax Symphony Joins with Fairfax County to Help Needy
Kids

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and the Fairfax County Office of Partnerships announced today that they are joining efforts to provide Fairfax County’s needy children with books and winter clothing.

“Our annual Holiday Pops concert, held this year on December 9th, is a wonderful holiday tradition for families. In this season of giving, we wanted to be able to give our audience the opportunity to do something small that could make a real difference in the lives of less fortunate children in the County,” said Jane Kenworthy, executive director of the FSO.

Emily Bryant, Executive Director of the Office of Partnerships noted, “The need is greater than you can imagine. So many of us have so much, yet 8.3% of the households in Fairfax County have a median income less than $25,000, and an astounding 5% spend at least 50% of their income providing shelter for their families. These are truly the working poor. The FSO’s annual Holiday Pops concert presents a great opportunity for the Fairfax Symphony’s audience to make a difference in the ability of these children to be warm this winter, and to have a very special gift - a book of their own.”

The Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and the Fairfax Choral Society jointly produce the program, this year titled, “Ho Ho Holiday Pops!” Doug Hill of WJLA-TV is the special guest host.

Bring your singing voices along with your donation for the children!
